Sir,

Copy

Education Department.

Hongkong, 25th March, 1879.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Letter No. 319 of the 24th instant, informing me that Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies, having had under his consideration the question of separating the office of Inspector of Schools from that of Head Master of the Central School, is of opinion that the work of the Central School is sufficient to occupy my time and has accordingly been pleased to approve of the two offices being henceforth separated.

May I venture to suggest the probability of there being some mistake.

The Hon. W. H. Marsh.

Colonial Secretary.
